Mike Heffernan, President of the Peterborough and the Kawarthas Association of REALTORS® Inc. states, “PKAR had the strongest year of all time in 2015, with a year-end total of 3477 sales!  That’s a 14.24% increase over 2014.  Due to the growth of our local economy and the reduction of interest rates, we expect to see that momentum carry thorough into 2016.

January 2016 saw 131 total sales, including 12 vacant land sales. This is the highest number of January vacant land sales since 2010.  Additionally, cottage and recreational sales have remained high with 9 sales last month.  With the expansion of Highway 407 and the development of the Shining Waters Railway, we expect positive and continued equity growth in property values as more consumers  make the move to Peterborough and the Kawarthas, and your Local REALTOR® knows how to get your home or cottage ready for the bursting spring market!

Lastly, PKAR would like to congratulate both Maryam Monsef, Member of Parliament for Peterborough-Kawartha and Minister of Democratic Institutions, and Jeff Leal, Member of Provincial Parliament and Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, on their Cabinet Posts.  Peterborough is one of only two ridings in Canada to have both their MP and MPP in Cabinet.  Congratulations!”
